Ordinary Lads
BACK2BACK Productions Ltd
Presents ORDINARY LADS, Written by Paul Ferguson
Four ordinary lads, leading ordinary lives, are about to have an extraordinary day.
“Somebody’s at the door” bringing disaster, sticky situations and a free car! Bones wants his drug dealer, Fergie wants someone to laugh at his jokes, Sparky wants some good luck and Dibbs…well he’s just Dibbs.
Directed by - Jake Hendriks Designer - Olivia Altaras Lighting Designer - Gary Bowman Sound Designer - David Gregory
"Three friends (Bones, Sparky and Fergie) wait for their dealer to arrive, like tramps awaiting a Reebok-clad Godot... The Ordinary Lads makes for a laid-back and enjoyable night, despite its outward wide-boy braggadocio. Much like Bones’ reefer paraphernalia, the play is more complex than it first seems. There's a subtle social commentary that draws you into the fray, and gives some much needed heart to some much-maligned characters." Spoonfed
"This is quality, accessible fringe that you could invite the lads down the pub to without fear of later ostracization. This warm and funny show whetted my appetite for more from this talented playwright; the bubble is far from bursting." Extra Extra
"It was like watching a newly born Only Fools and Horses, the writing was sharp, the acting sensational and the feel good factor tremendous." Remotegoat

Department of Smelling Pistakes
Mining its trademark vein of absurdist humour, Publick Transport presents this new comedy set in a Russian governmental office where two civil servants jostle for power, one a puffed up bureaucrat in search of a job description, the other an unidentified inspector, the purpose of whose visit remains frighteningly vague. Reluctant to commit to specific thought for fear of showing ignorance of the party line - which changes hourly - they make idle conversation out of which is extrapolated the deepest meaning, while their attempts at political correctness only result in grammatical incorrectness.
“A hilarious caricature of the stifling formalities and hierarchies of office life, channelling Reggie Perrin, Kafka, Beckett and the Goons – and two splendid comic performances from Angus Barr and Toby W. Davies.” Steve Wright, Venue Magazine
