ANTIGONE Adapted by Cloud Downey

The story of ‘Antigone’ is ancient and timeless. The plot revolves around the strong-
willed Antigone’s desire to bury her brother, Polynices, killed in battle. The King of Thebes, her
uncle, has denied him burial and his body lies rotting in the Theban sun. Antigone’s attempts to bury
him are foiled. In her despair and frustration she falls foul of the king and faces a cruel end.
This is a new version, simply told using modern language, adapted from the original play of
Sophocles by Cloud Downey. It is a dramatic and moving tale.
