Salome by Oscar Wilde

Salome by Oscar Wilde

What would you risk to fulfil a sexual desire? Your marriage, your job, your health? In this electrifying adaptation of Salome, one of Oscar Wilde’s lesser known plays, we find individuals caught in a struggle of power and lust which eventually leads to their downfall. Although the play is set in ancient Judaea and deals with Biblical themes, there are many parallels to today’s political and social climate in King Herod’s fear of the prophet Iokanaan and the new religion which is entering his kingdom - a fear of the unknown which is certainly not uncommon in our time. Salome is a play about passion and love, obsession and self-destruction that unleashes some of our darkest desires.

"provocative and enthralling" (Three Weeks)
